And the angel said to me, “Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
Revelation 19:9, ESV
The invitation list is being prepared now—is your name on it?
An invitation remains merely a piece of paper unless it is accepted. For thousands of years, God has been sending invitations via His Spirit to millions and billions of people—some have accepted, some have declined. The marriage supper of the Lamb however, will have 100% RSVP participation. It will be given to those whose names appear in the Book of Life—the guest list to eternal peace. There is no major theological thought here, but obviously there are those who do not get the invitation. The Bible is clear, especially here in Revelation—that a place of eternal torment exists as well—a place for the opposite of “blessed”: the cursed. The sad truth is that the curse is self-imposed. Too many reject that initial invitation. Others leave it pinned to the bulletin board, promising to “get around to sending the RSVP later,” and “later” becomes too late. I am one of the delivers of the invitation—I did not write the invitation, I am not the host—but I do carry the message for others to join me in getting onto that guest list. EVERY believer is a postman with a route: may each of us deliver ALL of our mail ONTIME in 2020.
Thank You for giving me a job. Though I seemingly slack-off or call-in sick some days, You still trust me to get the job done (for reasons I still do not grasp). Please send Your Spirit to guide me through the neighborhoods where I get lost, to show me through the fenced and menacing yards with “Beware of the Dog” signs posted and to find the misaddressed and mis-numbered mailboxes along my route. May I join the ranks of “Employee of the Year” in 2020!
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
